MORPH PROYECT

By Luz Giovel Garatejo

I'm an autistic creature with Visual Snow Syndrome that lives in Cali, Colombia. In 2020, I created Nantailal, a work of conceptual art that reflected on the practice or "worldbuilding", playing with the idea of an "egg world", a world that is in itself the concept of world, and at the same time a reflection of the inner world of the unconscious mind, in which all concepts get mengled up; as things aproach the realm of consciousness, in the subconscious layer, entities begin to exists separarately, so the posibility for conflict appears. I borrowed from the work of the linguist Sonja Lang, the minimalistic language of Toki Pona, to imagine a form of comunication for the entities that inhabit the egg world, Nantailal, because I though, if anything akin to language was to exists in there, it had to be something like it; then, I designed a phonemic script in which each phonem is also a being at the same time, simple, cell-like. The proyect was presented as a piece of web art, with all the text written in that organic phonemic script; tragically, I coult afford to pay the web domain for long, so I lost it. Nantailal got taken down.

This is what remains of Nantailal

However, I never intended for Nantailal to stay as an egg. The morphs are the hatching of the egg, the comming of the subconscious into the physical realm, from possibility into matter.
